I usually make rapid small squared paintings in the side of the sketchpad a part of the main work, when in a hurry an not enough time to get details, just to rember the site or to have an overview of the surroundings.

Ain Bousaadia : a perched berber village, a spring, a forest, many cliffs and of course birds. This landscape was superb in spring and while sketching two Golden Eagles appeared flying over the horizon with a flock a Alpine Swifts.
This rapid sketch was made at el Fondo natural park (El Rincon) Spain. A sandy bank was hiding partly the birds so just the heads of the Flamingos appeared among the Shelducks.
